PILOT 1 (pt.1): Class of 2020Vision
As part of the 2020Vision white paper and initiative, over 100 students - from London fashion universities LCF, CSM, RCA, Kingston, Westminster and Ravensbourne - applied to be considered for the ‘Class Of 2020Vision’ graduate show at the old Central Saint Martins building in Holborn, east London, kindly donated by the landlords via the Kopple Project.
A prestigious panel of 10 industry experts, including Steve Salter (i-D & LN-CC), Edwina Ehrman (V&A), Philip Delamore (RCA), Prof. Sandy Black (CSF), Amanda Johnston (Future Fabrics Expo), Seetal Solanki (RCA & Ma-tt-er) and Reece Crisp (LN-CC), amongst others, selected 15 eligible graduates to be exhibited at the show throughout August 2020.
This started the process of preparing for our first pilot program as those students on show were informed that several of them would have the chance to be selected to go on to enter this pilot, depending on whether they met certain criteria - which emerged throughout the exhibition.
The exhibition spanned 10 days, and over 500 visitors were guided around the exhibit in groups of 15. Each tour took an hour and a half, and not a single person didn’t very willingly complete it. A true testament to the quality and perseverance of a cohort of students (on those generous companies that supported this show!) who were so disrupted in the final stages of their graduate year collections.
